Press Release: Canada and Norway: HIV Efforts for Women and Girls Stymied by Stigma and Discrimination -July 20, 2010 Women and girls from Canada and Norway, including HIV-positive activists, researchers, AIDS organizations and human rights and HIV/AIDS lawyers, sent a strong message to their governments today, that current strategies and approaches to HIV and AIDS risk lives. Report cards issued by the HIV community across each country gave both governments failing grades in recognizing the needs of women and girls to protect themselves from HIV and to manage HIV infection.
Blueprint announces the launch of the updated Manifesto and 2010 Report Cards at the International AIDS Conference in Vienna -June 08, 2010 Since its creation in 2005, the Blueprint for Action on Women and Girls and HIV/AIDS has developed a number of documents and tools to advocate for better prevention, services and support for women, transwomen and girls infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Over the past year, Blueprint has engaged in extensive community consultation to revise and update the Manifesto, and to assess the national response to HIV/AIDS in Canada and Norway to develop Report Cards for 2010. The Blueprint will be using the platform offered by the International AIDS Conference in Vienna to launch these documents, online and at the event itself.

It is entitled "National Report Cards Measuring Responses to Women’s, Young Women’s and Girls’ HIV/AIDS Issues: Canada, Nicaragua, Zimbabwe & Rwanda". Speakers are: Louise Binder, Steering Committee, Blueprint for Action on Women and Girls and HIV/AIDS, Lois B Chiangandu, Executive Director, Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service – SAfAIDS (Zimbabwe), Béatrice Kagoyire, President, Réseau Rwandais des Personnes Vivant avec le VIH-sida, Rwanda and Ivo Rosales-Soto, Resource Development Coordinator, Puntos de Encuentro, Nicaragua.

Blueprint members are co-organizing and Blueprint is supporting the women’s and girls’ rally & march taking place on Tuesday August 5 between 4:30 – 8:00 pm. The theme is "All Women, All Rights".
